  • Abstract
Composite Insulators exposed to atmospheric environment with pollution and ultraviolet rays for long-term would become aging. Hydrophobic was an important parameter of the composite insulator characteristics. Under the impetus of the STRI laboratory, the static contact angle evaluation method had been changed by receding angle evaluation method internationally. China could not be directly used, the two method needed to be compared. On this basis, the receding angle method and the static contact angle method were compared which was focus on the evaluation of the operability of this method, the selection of the evaluation criterion and the reasonableness of evaluation criterion. The results show that the receding angle in the three aspects is not mature. The receding angle method should not be used to replace the static contact angle method at this time.
