Abstract :
Pitch period is an important parameter of speech recognition and speech synthesis. Pitch period detection has been focused on the field of audio processing research. An algorithm is presented for pitch detection of musical signals. It is based on the AMDF method with a number of modifications that combine to prevent errors. The algorithm proposed here has been proved simple and implemented efficiently. There is no upper limit on the frequency search range, so the algorithm is suited for high-pitched music. A comparative study between this algorithm and the AMDF is also given.
