Abstract
The integration of an electro-optical cell into the standard-cell design process using VHDL as the language for system specification is reported. The electro-optical ASIC described implements the numerical inequality detection critical to optically accessed database retrieval systems. The emphasis of this paper is on the overall design of an integrated electro-optical CMOS application specific integrated circuit
