The power of visions - complete plant descriptions in a neutral data format

Topic of this speech is the realization of a very ambitious vision, namely the complete decriptions of plants in a neutral format, providing all needed data for visualization and simulation targeting virtual commissioning. While the vision is not new, the promising approach with AutomationML is. Starting with the vision and the approach of integrating different engineering aspects under one umbrella, the speech will then discuss the current status of the AutomationML including open issues. Of course, plants do not run without communication and devices, thus we will dig into this key aspect of engineering. However, a technical idea does not suffice alone. What other ingrediences are needed to empower visions in shareholder value dominated markets?
