Abstract :
A constructive method for the design of an optimal SISO piecewise polynomial fuzzy system approximating a given real continuous function with arbitrary accuracy is proposed. Three cases are considered according to the definition of optimality. An example is given that illustrates the method and confirms the interest in considering polynomial membership functions
