Abstract :
This article describes both the modeling of a transtibial prosthesis and its corresponding simulated response to static load using the commercial software package called “SolidWorks”. The simulation was conducted based on the finite element method. The prosthesis model implemented represents an 80Kgf-1.70m individual with a generic prescription. As a result, it was found that the efforts supported by the different components of the prosthesis do not exceed the mechanical limits of their materials. These results suggest that the failure mechanisms are located in the contact surfaces a long the prosthesis.
