Abstract
As we have got better at programming, we have come to recognize that the real problems of software development cannot be solved by thinking about program code. We need to address the problems of complex and shifting user requirements in a world of rapid application development, commercial off-the-shelf components and concurrent engineering. Formal methods must help us do this if they are to play a significant role in real projects.
