Abstract
Virtual Machine (VM) has been commonly used in the software testing environments. Since this environments are unstable, we propose the ISCSI-Based Protection System to ensure the high availability of VM, which can recover the damaged VM files to the past state. Our system is carried out at block level on standard ISCSI protocol and snapshot. Using CDC (content-defined chunking) de-duplication, we improve the utilization rate of space. Specially, we enhance the flexibility of managing disks with LVM (Logical Volume Manager). Through running a variety of VMs with different configurations, we demonstrate that the VM can be recovered quickly and we also reduce the storage space effectively. Furthermore, making use of ISCSI achieves stable and no distance limitation remote storage without too much investment.
