Abstract
The authors outline a process for linking strategic planning and quality efforts in order to move an organization forward toward a focused strategic goal. They note that strategy and quality are inseparable, and that integrating the process of planning for each can improve the implementation of both strategic plans and quality improvement efforts. Strategic planning helps the organization do the right things. Quality efforts ensure that these things are done right. It is concluded that the combination of these two efforts is not only desirable but will become imperative as businesses compete in increasingly global and competitive marketplaces
