Abstract :
Summary form only given. The speaker will discuss the design of 3D immersive virtual reality technologies that can accommodate individual differences in visual-spatial cognition and facilitate visual-spatial processing. In particular, the speaker will focus on the future of using such immersive virtual reality programs as a promising tool for basic and applied research on visual-spatial cognition. She will also present research evidence indicating that the immersivity of an environment might be one of the most important aspects to be considered for research, assessment and training in the domains that rely on visual-spatial cognition (e.g., robotics, navigation, medical surgery) and require high visual-spatial skills.
