Abstract :
When the MS is far from the BS or obscured terrain and buildings, the data rate decreased with increased distance from the BS and the coverage range of BS will become only a few kilometers. IEEE working group proposed 802.16j relay technology to forward data for BS to overcome the signal strength attenuation. Since construction relay station cost is low, MS will be scanned more than one signal when entry the mobile multi-hop relay (MMR) network. In this paper, we present a path selection mechanism which exploits remainder slots and signal strength indication (SSI). Since signal strength will affect the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) using combination, we proposed SSI denote which using MCS combination. We also take into the hop count into account. By using our proposed mechanism, an optimal path can be selected.
