  • Abstract
Because the duration of traditional rehabilitation is extremely long and therapy process is very boring, patients are reluctant to finish the whole treatment plan. Therefore, the rehabilitation effect is not as good as expected. It is known that games can promote patients´ concentration and dedication, as well as shift attentions of patients´ uncomfortableness during rehabilitation. Incorporating game technology in rehabilitation program seems to be a promising approach. In this research, a game system used for shoulder rehabilitation is developed. The mechanical parts and electric circuits are integrated to simulate the functionalities of a shoulder wheel. Moreover, several games are also designed to fit the needs of rehabilitation based on the age and gender of patients. The patients could work on their rehabilitation processes through playing games. They are willing to accept this novel approach and therefore the effect of rehabilitation therapy could be improved.
