Abstract
In this paper we consider the optimization of energy consumption in multicat routing in MANET. To avoid the generation of loops which occurs in the IMBM algorithm, combining the characteristics of MANET and the advantages of the multicast routing protocol based on tree structure, we propose a multicast routing algorithm that minimizes the energy consumption. By the algorithm we construct a broadcast tree which has a source node as root and has a path from the root to every destination node, and distribute proper energy among the nodes so that the total energy consumed in the tree is minimal. Experiments show that this algorithm is very effective on saving energy.
