Abstract
The present paper examines the evolutionary nature of software programming. In a preliminary stage we deal with two referential notions: human intelligence and information systems. Later we discuss the evolutionary properties of software programs in relation with the notions introduced in the previous stage. Finally we see how the theoretical conclusions match with some practical aspects of the software development and maintenance.
