  • Abstract
    Acted as the communication terminal equipment, softphone can realize communications between PC to PC and PC to PSTN. Meanwhile, with the development of the next generation network (NGN), Softswitch has been widely deployed in network. Based on the facts above, this paper discusses the design and implementation of a softphone based on Softswitch framework. Firstly, this paper presents the concept of a softphone and SIP. Secondly, it analyses the function of a softphone and designs the architecture of it. Finally, it introduces an implementation of each module of a softphone, including: main control module, SIP signaling process module and media process module.
