Abstract :
Differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy is a popular method for studying the three dimensional structure of living cells. Currently, no volume rendering tools exist which support visualisation of 3D DIC data. The authors develop a transformation method which removes the differential appearance of DIC imager, producing data which is suitable for volume rendering, and compare this method to an edge-enhancing approach based on a variance filter
