Automatic video thumbnail selection

A practical system named automatic video thumbnail selection system is proposed for video sharing sites in this paper. It aims to automatically select a best thumbnail among several extracted thumbnails for a video. To achieve this, video thumbnail features including high-level and low-level visual information are proposed and the corresponding scores are calculated firstly. Then a weighting method is adopted to combine all scores of features together for final decision. We also define how to measure the accuracy of thumbnail selection methods and show that our proposal is fast and precise for automatic thumbnail selection through experiments.
