Abstract :
The paper presents a concept of reactive power compensation using an electric drive system. The priority task is to supply the electric drive with active power. The amount of the reactive power component that can be generated to the supply line by the drive system depends on electric drive power demand and the transistor converter power ratings. This paper considers conditions under which reactive power compensation is possible. The considerations are supported by simulations and verified by laboratory results
