Abstract :
A photodetector is a key component in an optical fiber communications system, and its performance directly influences the performance and design requirements of the entire system. This paper compares the structural difference between PIN-PD and the UTC-PD using energy band theory. It has previously been pointed out that the parameters of the absorption layer and collection layer play decisive roles in the overall UTC-PD performance. This paper presents the parameter simulation results from of the absorption layer and collection layer using ATLAS simulation software. It also presents an analysis of the simulation results.
