Abstract
The paper investigates the internal quantization error for a conventional triple-loop sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) converter configuration. This is achieved through the derivation of the closed-form solution of the internal quantization error for a general input signal excitation assuming an overload-free quantizer operation. The resulting closed-form solution is subsequently applied to the determination of the quantization error associated with a sinusoidal input signal excitation for the spectral analysis and characterization of the Σ-Δ converter configuration. Computational results are included to confirm the validity of the closed-form solution
