Abstract :
This paper addresses the issues related to CCTV applications as a public safety application on the move. Video surveillance cameras are currently becoming important tools for the public safety agencies. Enhanced CCTV surveillance systems can automatically spot suspicious behaviour and raise an alarm. The CCTV application is one of the key challenging services under the future public safety communication systems (PSC) and technologies scope. Deploying this application in uplink stream in the transport public scenario represents great technical challenge and research effort. This article presents a simulation performance analysis on CCTV deployment as an Ethernet service over the WiMAX mobile network in a train scenario. The CCTV traffic is characterized; the key performance indicators (KPI) according to WiMAX Profile 1.5 and the public safety requirements are also identified. The WiMAX network, and consequently the IEEE802.16 opportunity for attending this type of public safety applications, is highlighted. The current IEEE 802.16m specification covers the high mobility classes and scenarios supported by the IMT-advanced. This IEEE802.16 new release will also be able to support public safety first responders, military and emergency with services such as call- prioritization, pre-emption, and push-to-talk. Finally, the simulation analysis verifies that the CCTV KPI specified values are met at different mobile speeds.
