Abstract :
A control system consists of controller and controlled plant. After a controller has been designed and built, it is imperative to conduct closed-loop tests to verify the controller´s performance. This obviously requires that the controlled plant be available. For many power system control applications, it is very difficult and costly to build a controlled plant in a laboratory or a manufacturing site. Because of the nature of the power industry, it is very rarely allowed to shut down the plant operation to perform tests. For both technical and economic considerations, it is thus desirable to have a dynamic system emulator which can physically emulate the dynamic behavior of the controlled plant. In this paper, a dynamic system emulator based-on FIFO technology is presented. It is specifically designed for power system control applications. The structure of the emulator is simple and easy to implement. It is accurate and highly convenient
