Abstract :
A comparative performance evaluation of DCT domain techniques for spatial scalability is presented. In contrast to the traditional spatial domain techniques, the DCT domain techniques remove the unnecessary decompression and recompression procedures, and thus have the advantages of reduced computational complexity and storage requirements. The relative performance is compared in terms of computational complexity and image quality
