  • Abstract
In a WDM system the transients occur in the gain of EDFA because of system reconfiguration i.e. because of addition or deletion of channel. Thus in this paper we analysed the techniques of reducing transients in gain of EDFA. Here the two techniques, ring laser and fabry perot, are used for limiting the power excursions and to improve the quality factor of surviving channels. The above stated techniques are used for both the cases: channel adding case and dropping channel case.
