Abstract :
This paper presents the design and implementation of window-based interactive digital control development system, the PC-DSPLab, using state of the art digital signal processors from Texas Instruments. The PC-DSPLab consists of a dual-DSP (TMS320C52 and TMS 320C14) PC-based add-on card and a window-based (Microsoft Windows 3.1) interactive control software package. A dual-DSP hardware architecture has been developed for the realization of sophisticated digital control algorithms. The designed system provides facilities for online interactive data monitoring and parameter tuning of DSP-based control systems. A high-level digital controller description language, the Control-C language, has been developed to realize the digital controller on an algorithmic level. An object-oriented paradigm has been applied to the design of the software of this interactive development system. The developed PC-DSPLab provides an interactive environment for the realization of sophisticated control algorithms using advanced DSP. Examples are also given for illustration of the designed system
