  • Abstract
    Since the extent of density unevenness of a complicated character pattern influences the visibility of printed materials, the unevenness of the subjective density defined in terms of the printed area of a Chinese character on a sheet of printing paper is studied by psychophysical experiment. In accordance with the results of the present study, a new evaluation method for the density unevenness of complicated Chinese characters on a sheet of printing paper by visual sensation is proposed to solve the problems of the density unevenness and for the maintenance of printing machines
