Abstract
This paper describes a fuzzy proportional-integral controller for the speed control of an AC motor drive and compares the simulation results with those obtained by a conventional PI controller. Results have proved that the fuzzy controller gives high performance and is less sensitive to motor parameters variations. Fuzzy logic is a recent control technique permitting the control of complex systems. It does not require a mathematical model of the system and uses look-up tables to improve transient response and system settling time
