  • Abstract
    A power module with four outputs, two switches and only one controller is designed and implemented. This power module fully regulates four output voltages. Since both frequency and duty cycle are varied, one switch can control two outputs. The reported power module employs a digital signal processor (DSP) which simultaneously generates two sets of variable-frequency pulse-width modulated signals for driving two switches, resulting in four fully regulated outputs. This paper discusses the power stages and the use of a TMS320C30 DSP as the controlling unit, and in particular the design of the required algorithms for low CPU computational time. The present design has still not exhausted the capability of the DSP. This means that the DSP can still perform some additional control functions to produce a multi-purpose power module that can provide regulated voltages, and, at the same time, other functions such as battery charging
