Abstract
A controller for a power plant feedwater system incorporating 49 different modes of control is described. A nonlinear observer which contains both continuous and Boolean variables is used in the design. The Boolean variables are included so that process structure changes, such as pumps being taken off-line and valves failing locked, may be handled.
