Abstract :
A novel frequency domain excision filter for use in front of adaptive array antenna based systems is presented. The proposed frequency domain excision filter uses an efficient implementation of an image processing technique to ensure that only narrowband interfering signals are removed from the received signal. This capability makes it possible to use the excision filters in front of an adaptive array antenna without compromising the adaptive array´s interference suppression ability. It is shown that when the proposed excision filter is used in conjunction with an adaptive array system the overall interference suppression capability of the system is increased.
