  • Abstract
    In the old film material, there are a lot of vertical or horizontal scratches, and most of them are vertical. In this paper, an removal method of scratches in video sequences based on special information is presented, for the time continuity of the scratch is strong and the correlation in both ends of the vertical or horizontal scratches is weak, eight neighborhoods of the target pixel for reference are repositioned to ensure the correlation, thus improving the repair effect while reducing the impact of noises and the pixels in cosine variational regions to the result of restoration, and thus, improving the effect of the restoration while strengthening the stability. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective for removal of scratches in video sequences of old film material. At the same time, it could be applied in automatically restoration system of the video sequence.
