Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to invent a better method and system, which could eliminate the influencing variables caused by conventional method. All the variables will be constant except the kinds of additives which will be the main theme for comparison, through the retrieval of the signal such as speedometer, odometer, engine revolution and the signal from the electronic control unit (ECU) to electronic fuel injection (EFI). All signals can be displayed online and will be transferred to the mobile computer using a serial communication (RS232). The data will be stored and processed in order to calculate the exact fuel consumption and perform the comparison as well. With this available data, more accurate fuel consumption against traveled distance can be measured even for very short tracks such as the distant of 100 meter at constant vehicle speed. Since the signals are very accurate (fuel consumption signal will be measured in microliter/second (μL/s) and distance (trip) in meter/second (m/s)). The accuracy is in μL as compared to the conventional method which accuracy is measured in liter. That is why the use of this equipment can save time and very accurate to measure fuel consumption among different additives and even to compare the performance in term of time of acceleration.
