Abstract :
We are in the process of introducing technologies like hybrid vehicles (HVs) to help reduce CO2 and address concerns such as energy security and emissions reduction. However, it is clear that further improvements in automotive mobility are required to achieve an even more effective solution for these concerns. For this reason, we are also developing several types of next-generation vehicles, such as plug-in HVs (PHVs), electric vehicles (EVs), and fuel cell HVs (FCHVs). This paper describes our approach toward achieving sustainable mobility and a scenario that focuses on a comparison of the features of PHVs and EVs. It was estimated that PHVs have the potential to reduce fuel consumption by 74%. In contrast, it was calculated that EVs are capable of reducing fuel consumption by 88% if HVs are used for an entire trip over longer distances which EVs cannot be used.
