Abstract :
Strategy and research items of the Center of Excellence named "Micro-NanoMechatronics for an Information-Based Society (Micro-Nano COE), which was established at Nagoya University in 2003, were presented. The three targets of this COE were also introduced; research on nanomechanical sciences, fusion of the achievements that result from basic research into micro-nanomechatronics; and providing three types of systems as infrastructure for an information-based society: information machinery, robotic, and bioinformatic medical systems.
