Abstract :
The development of a system that measure ranges of the order of metres, with the resolution of centimetres is described. Three methods based on the synthesised pulse technique: (i) Stepped Freque11cy Reflectometry, (ii) Direct Phase Measu11~ment and (iii) Direct Timing Method to measure~ the range is investigated. The system incorporates digital signal processing to 11educe the errors associated with noise.
