  • Abstract
Metal-glass-ceramic bonding was studied in terms of wetting characteristics. Glass-frit-added Ag was put on BaTiO3 to study the effect of the glass content on the wetting characteristics. The experiment was carried out by measuring the contact angle in a vacuum of 10-4-10-5 torr. The system was cut in cross sections to analyze the interface with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and estimate the mechanisms of bonding at the interfaces. The contact angles were 49° and 70° for 40% and 20% glass frit, respectively. Titanium was detected in the glass layer near the barium titanate of the base. The chemical reactions were estimated at the interfaces
