Abstract :
The investigation of incommensurate (IC) structure interaction with defects in the crystals is presented. Using birefringence measurements by the de Senarmont´s method (λ=633 nm) the effects of interaction between the defects and the static or slowly changing IC structure were investigated. The interaction of the static IC structure with the mobile defects leads, in particular, to the appearance of anomalies in the temperature dependence at a point where the temperature of the crystals was earlier stabilized. The anomalies correspond to the thermooptical memory effect. The interaction of IC structure with the natural and extrinsic defects in crystals of [N(CH3)4 ]2BCl4 (B=Zn,Cu,Mn) and [NH2(CH3)2]2CuCl4 was investigated
