Abstract
Switched reluctance motors have drawn attention in the field of aerospace and special industrial applications. Majority of the papers are confined to radially laminated rotors. Axially laminated rotors enhance the electromagnetic torque than with radially laminated rotors. This makes it suitable for applications like gears, blowers etc .Doubly excited motors solve the energy circulation problems which exist during commutation in conventional motors. This paper presents a scheme for maximum electromagnetic torque and reduction of circulation problems which exist during commutation for a 4 phase, 5hp, 8/6 SRM. The motor is simulated using MAGNET 6.26 as the CADD package. The machine is developed as a non-linear model using Matlab / Simulink.
