    Summary form only given. Huffman codes are legendary in the computing disciplines, and are embedded in a wide range of critically important communications and storage codecs. With 2015 marking the 64th anniversary of their development -- 1,000,000 years in binary -- it is timely to review Huffman and related codes, and the many mechanisms that have been developed for computing and deploying them.
