Abstract :
This paper considers the compensator problem of optimal control and estimation theory and advances a new design technique that constrains the optimal compensator. The technique works directly through suitable static constraints placed in the optimal performance index. The basic goal is compensator stability; however, for certain classes of systems, the technique may yield positive real compensation and thus provide hyperstability for certain classes of flexible spacecraft.
