  • Abstract
Liquid phase sintering of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)1-xZrxO3 ceramics (PMN1-xPZx) was carried out via the fluxing agents of Bi2O3Li2O and PbO. The sintering temperature of PMN1-xPZx could be lowered from 1300°C to less than 1000°C. Besides acting as a liquid-phase fluxing agent, both Bi2O3/Li2 O and PbO behave as a Curie shifter and depressor. Bi2O 3/Li2O decreases the Curie temperature of PMN1-xPZx, while PbO shifts the Curie temperature in an upward manner. The relaxation characteristics of PMN1-xPZx were enhanced with the incorporation of Bi2O3/Li2O. PbO cannot relax and therefore can only slightly broaden the dielectric maximum region of PMN 1-xPZx. The effects of Bi2O3/Li2O and PbO on the dielectric properties of PMN1-xPZx were also investigated
