Abstract
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems have received much attention because of their robust performance in dispersive channels. However, channel state information, especially signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), is necessary in order to obtain improvements in receiver performance. In this work, a computationally simple SNR estimator is evaluated for a HIPERLAN/2 OFDM transceiver. The estimator operates on Rayleigh fading frequency selective channel using BPSK modulated data. We assess the accuracy of the algorithm and show that the accuracy of the estimation is associated with the number of subcarriers used for the estimation
