Abstract :
Two-dimensional simulation of streamer formation and propagation for parallel-plane in SF6/N2 gas mixtures at atmospheric pressure are represented in this paper. Electron and ion continuity equations are solved simultaneously with Poisson´s equation, the effects of ionization, attachment, recombination, electron diffusion, and photoionization taken into account. The anode directed streamers in SF6/N2 gas mixtures with different SF6 content are simulated for the first time. The simulation result can be used to describe the streamer discharge process. The simulation also shows that photoionization accelerates the streamer development and the lower the SF6 content is, the stronger the acceleration is.
