Abstract :
This paper presents a FSS design based on slots loaded by MEM bridges fabricated over them. Actuation of the MEM-bridge elements enables frequency shift of the allowed transmission frequency for the slots. Individual actuation control for each EM-bridge element, enables local control of the FSS transmission/reflection frequency properties, and so in effect enables the concept of a pixilated FSS. The use of MEM-bridges offers the potential benefits of low less (high isolation), fast switching time, low cost and well-known fabrication process.
