Abstract
The Digital Modular Radio (DMR) is a software defined radio developed to satisfy the Navy´s near term need for an enhanced integrated battle space communication capability and to be compatible with existing Navy communications and network systems. The DMR is an open architecture, scalable and modular system which can be upgraded to satisfy existing and future communication requirements. This paper presents DMR mission, developmental approach, and its interoperable functionalities as a capability enabler supporting the warfighters in the Net-Centric environment
