Abstract :
A modern and smart measurement device-data logger-which takes advantage of the RISC technology capabilities is proposed in this paper. This device is a simple, low-cost and small-size kit, fast enough to cover the needs of a large variety of applications. It can operate either as a stand-alone device or guided by a PC via RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces. Special software tools accompany this device that enable the user to program and handle it in an easy way. A built-in program bench is used for local programming. Remote programming is accomplished through an RS-232 interface and a user-friendly graphical package, based on MS Windows software. The architecture of the device is based on a modular philosophy and can be customized to fit special demands
