Abstract :
In this paper a knowledge-based system approach to fault diagnosis is presented. In this case, the knowledge base contains information about normal and fault system operation. The example of an induction motor drive fed by a three-phase diode rectifier and transistor inverter is chosen. Different faults of electric drives are classified and investigated. Simulation for fault diagnosis is applied. A knowledge-base is built using a tree structure with object oriented techniques. The presented problems allow the application of an expert system to the fault diagnosis of power electronic circuits
