Abstract :
A new approach, based on branch-and-bound techniques, has been developed for solving the unit commitment problem. The method (i) assumes no priority ordering, (ii) allows time-dependent start-up costs and (iii) directly takes into consideration unit outages and uncertain demand in the reserve constraint. Preliminary computational results are reported.
