Title :
Ancillary services-the Northern Ireland approach [electricity supply]
Abstract :
The author describes how the provision of ancillary services in Northern Ireland is achieved via pragmatic arrangements built into existing electricity supply contracts. Future provision can be readily met by a minimal functional specification approach without the burden of the investment and administration overheads associated with ancillary service contracts and settlements procedures. The system needs are provided and should only be changed if a real cost benefit can be proven
