Abstract
Radar-based microwave breast imaging techniques involve transmitting and receiving microwave pulses from a number of antenna locations. The data collected benefit from antenna positions that are within a certain range relative to the breast surface. Thus a requirement for prior knowledge of the breast size, shape, and location arises. This paper presents application of a laser sensor to estimate a number of points on the surface of simple breast phantoms. Results demonstrate faster scan times as well as improved results when using a laser sensor.
